Odisha CM Orders New SOP After Hoax Bomb Threats

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a high‑level meeting on Wednesday at Lok Seva Bhawan following a spate of bomb threats reported across Odisha.

Authorities later confirmed that all alerts were false, assuring the public there was no cause for alarm.

Police bomb detection squads, Quick Response Teams, Special Tactical Units, and intelligence officers swiftly investigated each location, neutralising concerns and restoring calm.

During the meeting, CM Majhi directed the police to immediately prepare and issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling such incidents.

He emphasised the importance of constant vigilance and ordered further strengthening of the state’s bomb detection and disposal squads with advanced training and modern equipment.

Senior officials, including Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, and DGP Y.B. Khurania, attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister’s proactive response underscored the government’s commitment to public safety and preparedness against potential threats.
