Odisha CM Orders Crackdown on Hoarding Amid West Asia Crisis

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high‑level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to assess the availability of essential commodities in the state against the backdrop of escalating tensions in West Asia.

Officials assured that petroleum, LPG, fertilisers, and other vital supplies remain sufficient.

The Chief Minister directed strict vigilance against hoarding and black marketing, ordering statewide raids and punitive action against violators.

Special emphasis was placed on ensuring adequate fertiliser stocks for the upcoming Rabi season.

The administration has also been tasked with running awareness campaigns to prevent panic buying among citizens.

India’s dependence on Gulf nations for petroleum and LNG was highlighted, with concerns about possible supply disruptions due to the ongoing conflict.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg presented detailed measures already taken to safeguard uninterrupted supply and distribution.

The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining stability in essential commodities and protecting public interest during global uncertainties.
