Bhubaneswar, June 18(OT Webdesk): In a gracious gesture reflecting political civility, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended heartfelt wishes and prayers for the speedy recovery of opposition leader and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Patnaik is currently undergoing treatment for cervical arthritis in Mumbai.
Posting in Odia on the social media platform X, Majhi expressed his concern and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath for Patnaik’s swift recovery and restored health.
The post resonated with citizens and observers, noting the respectful tone between current and former leadership.
“ବିରୋଧୀ ଦଳ ନେତା ଶ୍ରୀ @Naveen_Odishaଙ୍କ ଅସୁସ୍ଥତା ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ଚିନ୍ତିତ… ମହାପ୍ରଭୁ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରୁଛି,” Majhi wrote, which translates to a heartfelt prayer for Patnaik’s health.
This expression of goodwill comes just a year after Majhi succeeded Patnaik following the BJP’s electoral win in June 2024. Patnaik remains Odisha’s longest-serving Chief Minister, having led from March 2000 to June 2024.
During his recovery, the Biju Janata Dal’s Political Affairs Committee is expected to oversee party responsibilities.
