Bhubaneswar, Mar 30 : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday launched the Antadoya Gruha Yojana at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district to provide pucca houses to poor people.
Addressing a function, the Chief Minister said the scheme would give hope and assurance to every family in rural area to live with dignity.
Majhi said on the first day today work order for the construction of 60,000 houses under the scheme has been issued. A target has been fixed to construct more than five lakh houses in the next three years.
A budgetary provision of Rs 2600 crore has been made for the implementation of the scheme in the current year. In the next three years Rs 7550 crore would be spent for the purpose.
A sum of Rs 1.20 lakh would be provided for the construction of each house. In addition to it toilet, cooking gas, drinking water, and electricity would be provided to each of the houses under various schemes.
Majhi said disabled, widows, people suffering from diseases like e cancer, families of martyrs, orphans and people severely affected by cyclone, flood, and elephant menance would be given priority in house allotment.
The Chief Minister said under PMAY so far while more than 23 lakh houses have been constructed, four lakh houses were under construction. A list has been provided to provide 26 lakh more houses under the scheme in the state.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 617.51 crore and inaugurated projects worth Rs 1223.66 crore in Kalahandi district. UNI
