Odisha CM Majhi Welcomes Global Delegates in 37th Parliamentary Internship Program

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed 40 delegates from 12 countries at Lok Seva Bhawan during the 37th Parliamentary Internship Program, organised by the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) under the Parliament Secretariat in New Delhi.

The interaction highlighted Odisha’s 89‑year legacy of democratic service and its pioneering role in digital governance.

Majhi underscored the Assembly’s achievements, including 62 sittings between June 2024 and June 2025, and a record 12‑hour 25‑minute debate on the Odisha University (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

Odisha’s Legislative Assembly has earned national recognition for its digital transformation, with full implementation of the National e‑Vidhan Application, OSWAS for e‑governance, and AI‑driven research and indexing. These innovations have positioned Odisha as a model of transparency and efficiency.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of parliamentary committees, noting that Odisha has established 25 such bodies, including 10 departmental standing committees functioning as “mini‑parliaments.” The state recently hosted a national conference for SC/ST committee chairpersons, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive governance.

On the cultural front, delegates praised Odisha’s rich heritage after visiting iconic sites such as Puri, Konark, and Dhauli.

Rajya Sabha MP Sujit Kumar hailed the Assembly as a national model for discipline and constructive debate, while Turkmenistan’s MP Kerimguly Geldiyev commended Odisha’s dedication to transparency and digital reforms.

The program was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, and PRIDE Director Prashant Mallick.

The exchange not only strengthened international parliamentary collaboration but also showcased Odisha’s unique blend of tradition and modern governance.
