
Odisha CM Majhi Unveils Rs 1,101 Crore Development Push in Nuapada
Nuapada, — In a landmark move to accelerate regional development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a Rs 1,101 crore investment in Nuapada district, unveiling a series of infrastructure, irrigation, and urban governance projects.
This marks his third visit to the district since assuming office, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to Western Odisha’s growth.
During a public address, Majhi emphasised his personal connection to Nuapada and reiterated his open-door policy for residents. “My doors are always open for the people of Nuapada,” he said, pledging swift action on local concerns.
Key initiatives include:
- Inauguration of 109 completed projects worth Rs 64.02 crore.
- Foundation laying for 39 new projects totalling Rs 159.76 crore.
- Additional development announcements worth Rs 75.37 crore.
- A massive Rs 802.09 crore allocation for irrigation to boost agricultural productivity.
Urban upgrades were also central to the visit. Khariar Road was elevated to Municipality status, Komna block was granted NAC status, and Sinapali Gram Panchayat was merged with Godal to form a new NAC. These changes aim to streamline civic services and governance.
Majhi also launched sub-registration offices in all 317 tehsils across Odisha, with seven inaugurated in Nuapada and Malkangiri districts. This move is expected to ease land registration processes for rural citizens.
The CM highlighted economic reforms, including a GST reduction on kendu leaves from 18% to 5%, benefiting lakhs of pluckers.
Scholarship amounts under various schemes were also increased, enhancing educational access for underprivileged students.
Nuapada’s achievements were lauded, from leading the state in MGNREGA employment to pioneering the ‘Jhie Pain Gachh Tie’ tree-planting initiative for newborn girls. The district has also been declared single-use plastic-free.
Ministers and MPs present echoed the government’s people-centric approach, with promises to elevate Nuapada’s health, education, and employment metrics.
With a cumulative Rs 1,420 crore investment in Nuapada since April, the BJP-led government is positioning the district as a model for inclusive, rapid development in Odisha.
