Odisha CM Majhi Presents ₹3.10 Lakh Crore Budget, Focus on Inclusive Growth
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented the Odisha State Budget for 2026–27 in the Legislative Assembly on February 20.
Majhi described the budget as a roadmap for inclusive and equitable growth, aligned with the vision of a “Viksit and Samruddha Odisha.” The budget emphasises the welfare of farmers (annadatas), empowerment of women (Narishakti), opportunities for youth, and infrastructure development.
The total budget size stands at Rs 3.10 lakh crore, up from Rs 2.90 lakh crore in 2025–26.
Odisha continues to lead nationally in capital outlay, with 6.6% of its GSDP projected for infrastructure investment, including roads, bridges, and irrigation projects.
Majhi stressed the principle of Antyodaya—ensuring development reaches the last mile, promoting dignity, opportunity, and shared prosperity.
The fiscal approach balances prudence with targeted investments to boost the economy and improve citizens’ quality of life.
