Cuttack, (OT Webdesk)—Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the State-Level Women Empowerment Summit at Bali Jatra Ground, reinforcing the government’s commitment to gender-inclusive development.
Addressing a gathering of thousands, CM Majhi emphasised that empowering women is central to Odisha’s future progress.
“Until half of our state’s population progresses, the state itself can never truly develop,” he stated, highlighting key initiatives that prioritise women’s economic and social upliftment.
One of the landmark schemes discussed was Subhadra Yojana, billed as the most revolutionary women’s welfare initiative in Odisha’s history.
It involves extensive grassroots outreach, ensuring enrollment of women, particularly from remote tribal areas, into comprehensive financial and social support programs.
The Chief Minister lauded Odisha’s leadership in the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, a nationwide effort to empower women economically. Odisha ranks first in India, with over 16 lakh women achieving financial independence through skill-based enterprises.
Further, the government has facilitated Rs 3,695 crore worth of business opportunities for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) this year alone.
Additionally, loans worth Rs 300 crore have been waived for 3.07 lakh SHGs, alleviating financial burdens and fostering grassroots entrepreneurship.
CM Majhi also introduced the Mukhyamantri Sampurna Pushti Yojana (MSPY), a welfare scheme focused on improving nutrition for women and children, ensuring a healthier future for Odisha’s next generation.
With a record Rs 89,861 crore allocated exclusively for women-centric programs in the latest budget, the Odisha government aims to transform the state into a model for women’s empowerment across India.
The summit, held in the historic city of Cuttack, symbolises a pivotal moment in Odisha’s developmental journey, heralding what the Chief Minister calls a “golden era for women” in the state.
