Odisha CM Majhi, Governor Kambhampati Discuss State Progress and University Appointments

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at Lok Bhavan to deliberate on Odisha’s administrative and developmental priorities.

Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj also joined the discussion.

The Chief Minister highlighted the Governor’s role as a guiding force in implementing welfare programs and accelerating the state’s growth agenda.

Among the pressing issues was the prolonged delay in appointing Vice Chancellors to 13 public universities.

Despite applications being invited in June 2025 following amendments to university laws in line with UGC norms, the selection process remains incomplete after nine months.

Opposition leaders and academicians have criticised the delay, pointing out that universities continue to operate under acting Vice Chancellors, slowing both administration and academic decision-making.

The meeting is seen as a step toward resolving these concerns and reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening Odisha’s higher education and development framework.
