( OT webdesk)Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday in New Delhi, highlighting Odisha’s critical role in India’s eastern defence strategy.
The meeting, part of Majhi’s four-day visit to the national capital, focused on bolstering defence infrastructure and leveraging Odisha’s coastal assets for national security.
Taking to the social media platform X, Majhi called the discussion “productive” and thanked Singh for his commitment to strengthening India’s defence capabilities.
Odisha’s 480-km coastline and vital defence installations, including the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Bhadrak, serve as key hubs for missile testing and coastal security.
Officials close to the matter emphasised that increased investment in Odisha’s defence infrastructure could significantly enhance India’s security preparedness.
Experts believe that Odisha’s strategic location makes it indispensable for safeguarding the nation’s eastern borders.
As Odisha strengthens its role in national security, CM Majhi’s meeting with Singh signals deeper cooperation between the state and the central government in defence planning.
The discussions are expected to pave the way for new defence initiatives aimed at fortifying India’s eastern frontier.
