Odisha CM lays foundation stones for five major projects at Tata Steel’s Gopalpur Industrial Park

Bhubaneswar/Gopalpur, June 5 (OT Webdesk): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today laid the foundation stones for five new industrial projects at the Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP), developed by Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL).


The event took place in Ganjam, Odisha, and was attended by senior officials from the State Government, local community representatives, TSSEZL officials, and stakeholders from existing industries at GIP.

The Odisha Chief Minister stated, “Ganjam has achieved significant milestones in the industrial sector. Thanks to improved infrastructure, the presence of a leading port, and a skilled workforce, investors are increasingly interested in establishing their units in the district.” He added, “With investments in green hydrogen, chemicals, and the renewable energy sector, Ganjam is poised to set a new benchmark in the industrial sector.”

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Minister of Commerce & Transport, Steel & Mines, Government of Odisha; Gokulananda Mallik, Minister of Fisheries & Animal Resources Development, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of Odisha; Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of Industries, and Skill Development & Technical Education, Government of Odisha; and Manikanta Naik, Managing Director of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited.

The projects for which foundation stones were laid include: 

  • HHP Five (Hygenco): Green Hydrogen/Ammonia production, with an investment of INR 4,000 Cr.
  • Ocior Energy: Green Hydrogen/Ammonia production, with an investment of INR 7,200 Cr.
  • Saatvik Solar Industries: Solar Cell & Module manufacturing, with an investment of INR 3,000 Cr.
  • World Green Energy: Solar Cell & Module manufacturing, with an investment of INR 2,500 Cr.
  • Superform Chemistries (UPL): Specialty Chemicals manufacturing, with an investment of INR 4,001 Cr.

Manikanta Naik, Managing Director of TSSEZL, remarked, “The groundbreaking of these five projects marks a crucial phase in the development of Gopalpur Industrial Park. It highlights the supportive industrial environment fostered at GIP, which is aimed at encouraging innovation and long-term investment. The concerted efforts of our team, strong industry partnerships, and the ongoing support from the Government of Odisha have been instrumental in reaching this milestone. I sincerely thank the Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha for his invaluable presence and guidance. We remain committed to advancing GIP as a multi-sector industrial hub and facilitating further industrial growth in the State.”

The green hydrogen and ammonia produced at the Industrial Park will primarily be for export purposes. This expansion increases the total number of green hydrogen and ammonia industries at GIP to four, firmly establishing it as one of the largest green hydrogen hubs in the country. Among the solar cell and module manufacturers, Saatvik Solar Industries is set to establish a 4.80 GW integrated cell and a 4.00 GW module manufacturing facility, while World Green Energy will develop a 2.00 GW cell and a 1.20 GW module manufacturing unit.
