Odisha CM Launches Odia Reference Books for Class XI Science Students
Bhubaneswar: In a landmark step toward strengthening Odia-medium education, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday unveiled Odia-language reference books for Class XI science students at Lok Seva Bhawan.
The newly released books cover Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, ensuring that students pursuing science can now access high-quality academic resources in their mother tongue.
To maximize reach, each higher secondary school in Odisha will receive 10–20 copies for their libraries.
Additionally, the books will be available at district headquarters bookstores, with distribution facilitated by the Odia Study and Research Institute.
Nearly 1,20,000 students across 700 higher secondary schools are expected to benefit from this initiative.
The government has also announced that similar Odia-language reference books are being prepared for Class XII science students, further expanding the scope of Odia-medium education.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Minister emphasised that the move reflects Odisha’s commitment to inclusive, culturally rooted education.
By making Odia the language of learning from primary to higher education, the state aims to empower students and preserve linguistic heritage.
The event was attended by ministers, senior officials, and education leaders, underscoring the government’s resolve to promote Odia as a language of science and scholarship.
