(OT Webdesk)Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled the week-long Aakanksha Haat Abhiyan, a transformative campaign aimed at boosting local products from the state’s Aspirational Districts.
Launched during the Sampurnata Abhiyan Samman Samaroh, the initiative seeks to amplify the reach of indigenous goods—crafted by women’s self-help groups, farmers, artisans, and weavers—through digital marketplaces under the “Aakanksha” brand.
The campaign is rooted in the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme, a national initiative launched in 2018 and expanded to blocks in 2023.
Odisha’s 10 districts and 29 blocks have shown remarkable progress in health, education, agriculture, and financial inclusion, driven by the programme’s pillars of convergence, collaboration, and competition.
CM Majhi emphasized the importance of “Vocal for Local,” highlighting fair pricing and improved market access as key goals. He also stressed the need for better connectivity in remote regions to ensure inclusive development.
The event honored high-performing districts and blocks with awards totaling Rs 165 crore. Gold medals were awarded to Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts, along with Khairput, Mathili, Chitrakonda, and Dabugaon blocks.
Silver, bronze, and copper medals recognized other standout performers.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Development Commissioner Anu Garg praised the teamwork and vision behind the programme, aligning it with Odisha’s 2036 development roadmap.
The Aakanksha Haat Abhiyan is expected to drive sustainable growth and economic empowerment across the state’s most underserved regions.
