Odisha CM Felicitates Players of Women’s Blind T20 World Cup 2025 with Rs 11 Lakh Reward

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi felicitated four women cricketers from the state who played a pivotal role in India’s historic triumph at the Women’s Blind T20 World Cup 2025.

The Indian team clinched the title by defeating Nepal in a thrilling final held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The players—Phula Soren from Balasore, Parbati Marndi, Jamuna Rani Tudu from Mayurbhanj, and Basanthi Hansda—were honoured at the Chief Minister’s residence upon their return.

Each athlete received a cheque of Rs 11 lakh as recognition for their contribution to the team’s success.

Majhi praised their dedication and resilience, describing them as an inspiration for every Odia.

He emphasised that their achievement reflects the strength of perseverance and the spirit of sportsmanship, assuring continued government support for athletes who bring pride to the state.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Director Dr Vedula Vijay, team coach Debasish Jena, and other senior officials.

This recognition not only celebrates the players’ remarkable achievement but also underscores Odisha’s growing presence in national and international sports.
