Odisha CM Dismisses Doctor Over Corruption Charges | Vigilance Verdict

(OT Webdesk)In a decisive move underscoring his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has dismissed Dr Karunakar Rout from government service.

Dr Rout, who previously served at Madhuban Health Centre in Jajpur and later at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital in the mental health and cancer department, was found guilty of corruption by the Vigilance Court following a case filed by the Cuttack Vigilance Department.

Departmental proceedings, including suspension and penal actions, had already been initiated before the court’s final verdict. CM Majhi reiterated his commitment to ethical governance, stating that no corrupt official would be spared.

He also directed the Anti-Corruption wing to intensify investigations and pursue misconduct cases more aggressively, signalling a broader crackdown on administrative malpractice.

This dismissal marks a significant step in the state’s efforts to uphold transparency and accountability within public service.
