Odisha CM directs rationalisation of Medical Officer appointments across state

Bhubaneswar, Aug 18 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today directed officials to rationalise the appointment of medical officers across Odisha to ensure adequate deployment of doctors, particularly in tribal and underserved regions.

Majhi reviewed the state’s health service system at a meeting of the Health and Family Welfare Department, stressing the urgent need to fill vacancies of doctors and professors in medical institutions.

During the discussions, it was revealed that 1,840 doctors and medical officers, along with over 5,000 paramedical staff, will soon be appointed.

The Chief Minister also underlined the importance of filling vacant posts of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors in various medical colleges at the earliest.

He further directed the department to expedite the process of increasing PG seats in medical colleges, strengthening infrastructure, and appointing technical staff to enhance healthcare
delivery.

The review meeting also focused on setting up Integrated Trauma Care Centres in accident-prone areas, enhancing incentives for doctors in remote postings, and addressing the challenges faced
by Ayush practitioners.
