Odisha CM directs compensation to five lakh Chit Fund victims within 3–4 Months
Bhubaneswar, July 2 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today directed officials to ensure that compensation is paid to five lakh more depositors affected by the chit fund scam within the next 3–4 months.
According to sources from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the process of refunding chit fund money has been simplified and decentralised to the district level, following the Chief Minister’s instructions.
Accelerating the refund process, the state government has disbursed Rs 47.07 crore to 1,26,137 small depositors over the past year.
It is noteworthy that between 2014 and 2024, only Rs 119 crore had been refunded to 2,79,109 small depositors affected by the Chit Fund scam in the state.
