Odisha CM Cracks Down: Four Officials Suspended After SCB Fire

Odisha Chief Minister has suspended four senior officers following the devastating fire at Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The decision comes amid mounting public outrage and demands for accountability after the tragic incident that claimed several lives.

The suspended officials include administrative and technical staff responsible for hospital safety and emergency preparedness.

The suspended officers are:

1. Prakash Kumar Jena, Deputy Fire Officer, Cuttack Circle

2. Sanjib Kumar Behera, Assistant Fire Officer, Cuttack Circle

3. Abhinav Prusti, Station Officer, SCB Medical College and Hospital

4. Ranjan Kumar Biswal, Assistant Executive Engineer, SCB Sub-Division under Cuttack GED

The Chief Minister emphasised that negligence in critical institutions will not be tolerated, assuring families of the victims that strict action will follow.

Authorities have initiated a high-level inquiry to determine lapses in fire safety protocols and infrastructure management.

The state government has also announced compensation for affected families and pledged immediate upgrades to hospital facilities.
