Odisha CM Champions Cultural Revival at Srimad Bhagavat Mahotsav

Bhubaneswar, Oct 5 — Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to cultural and spiritual rejuvenation during the Srimad Bhagavat Mahotsav held at Terapanth Bhavan, Bhubaneswar.

Organised by the Dharma Jagruti Samiti, the event spotlighted the timeless teachings of the Srimad Bhagavat and their relevance to youth and society.

Majhi emphasised the revival of Bhagavat Tungi in every village, aiming to make the sacred text accessible to every Odia household. “The Bhagavat inspires moral, ethical, and spiritual growth, especially among youth who are the backbone of societal progress,” he stated.

The CM encouraged daily reading of the Bhagavat, citing its five guiding principles—God, life, nature, time, and karma—as essential for personal and communal harmony.

He also linked the event to India’s broader cultural resurgence since 2014, referencing national initiatives like the Ayodhya Ram Temple and Kashi Vishwanath corridor.

Odisha’s efforts include financial support ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.1 lakh for temple upkeep and religious festivals such as Shitala Sasthi and Dhanuyatra. Padma Shri Baba Balia and Swami Brahmanand Saraswati lauded the government’s proactive role in preserving Sanatan heritage.

Majhi concluded with a call to action: “Let the teachings of Srimad Bhagavat echo in every Odia home. Under our leadership, Odia language, literature, and spiritual consciousness will flourish.”
