Bhubaneswar, June 4, (OT Webdesk) – Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressed the State-Level Revenue Officers’ Conference and Workshop at Lok Seva Bhawan, urging revenue officials to prioritise public service and transparency.
Highlighting the critical role of tehsildars as the backbone of the state’s revenue administration, he called for swift grievance redressal and fostering trust in government offices.
Majhi outlined the government’s commitment to modernising land administration, ensuring no one in Odisha remains landless. Those with less than 4 decimals of land will be considered landless and provided support. “Our goal is a corruption-free, people-centric administration,” he said, emphasising a “zero tolerance” policy for corruption, particularly in land transactions involving tribal and Scheduled Caste communities.
The Chief Minister praised the successful management of Cyclone Dana, which achieved zero casualties by evacuating 8.1 lakh people to 6,210 safe shelters. He urged officers to prepare for the upcoming monsoon and potential cyclones, adhering to weather updates and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Majhi also stressed reclaiming illegally occupied government land and ensuring transparent land acquisition for industrial projects. He highlighted the need for accurate land verification to support schemes like paddy procurement, ensuring farmers receive fair benefits.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari echoed the call for reform, urging officers to adopt a proactive mindset and deliver timely services to earn public trust. The two-day workshop saw participation from Sub-Collectors, Additional District Magistrates, and tehsildars across Odisha. Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh delivered the welcome address, while Central Range Revenue Commissioner B. Parameswaran proposed the vote of thanks. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Development Commissioner Anu Garg were also present.
The conference underscored Odisha’s vision for a transparent, efficient, and inclusive revenue administration, with a focus on public welfare and disaster preparedness.
