
Odisha CM Assures Full Support to Durgapur Gangrape Survivor
In a compassionate outreach, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi spoke directly with the Odia medical student who was gangraped in Durgapur, West Bengal.
During the phone call, the CM inquired about her health and offered heartfelt reassurance, urging her to stay strong and promising that the Odisha government stands firmly by her side.
Majhi emphasised that the state will ensure her continued education and rehabilitation, stating, “Don’t worry, be courageous, and come forward again with strength.
Odisha is with you.” He assured that all necessary arrangements would be made to support her academic and personal recovery.
The CM also spoke with the survivor’s mother and the Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Women, Shobhana Mahanti, who was present in Durgapur.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to securing swift and exemplary punishment for the accused and pledged to use all available forums to press the West Bengal government for justice.
This proactive gesture underscores Odisha’s resolve to protect its daughters and ensure justice beyond state borders.
