Odisha CM Announces ₹200 Crore Loan Support for Women SHGs, Inaugurates Development Projects in Rayagada
Rayagada: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday announced a major financial boost for women’s self-help groups (SHGs) in Odisha, unveiling Rs 200 crore in interest-free loans for 4,217 SHGs during the Subhadra Shakti Mela in Rayagada.
Additionally, revolving funds worth Rs 14 crore were distributed among 9,337 beneficiaries.
The CM emphasised that SHGs are vital partners in Odisha’s development journey, driving rural entrepreneurship and economic transformation.
He assured that the government would continue to safeguard women’s dignity while expanding opportunities in agriculture, handloom, garments, culture, and tourism.
Alongside the financial support, Majhi inaugurated 41 projects worth Rs 210 crore and laid the foundation for 67 projects valued at Rs 340 crore.
These initiatives span critical sectors including roads, drinking water, irrigation, education, health infrastructure, rural development, and urban facilities.
Highlighting Rayagada’s industrial potential, the CM revealed that projects worth over Rs 1 lakh crore are underway in the district, expected to generate more than 30,000 jobs.
He stressed that 80% of these jobs must be reserved for local youth, warning that companies failing to prioritise local hiring would face clearance hurdles.
The announcements reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, women’s empowerment, and sustainable prosperity in Rayagada and across Odisha.
