Odisha Chief Secretary calls for modernisation of Emergency Response Services

Bhubaneswar, July 29 (UNI) Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja today directed officials to strengthen the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) by equipping emergency vehicles with modern technologies such as mobile data terminals, smart phones, and GPS systems.

Accompanied by State Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Ahuja visited the ERSS centre at Mancheswar and conducted a comprehensive review of its operations, management, and modernisation efforts.

mphasizing the need for rapid and effective emergency response, the Chief Secretary instructed that ERSS be further reinforced by deploying additional personnel, increasing the number of emergency vehicles, and integrating advanced communication tools.

He also directed the integration of emergency vehicles from other key departments of the state government with the ERSS platform to improve coordination and response time.

The meeting also reviewed the timely utilisation of funds allocated by the state government for ERSS development. Ahuja instructed the immediate hiring and deployment of 409 emergency vehicles to bolster the service.

The review meeting was chaired by the Additional Director General of Security (Headquarters) and ERSS Nodal Officer Pratik Mohanty.

Senior officials from the departments of Health, Fire and Rescue Services, Women and Child Welfare, Forest and Environment, Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), and Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) were also present.
