Odisha Charts Path for Futuristic City Gas Policy

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated steps to frame a futuristic City Gas Distribution (CGD) Policy aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure and promoting clean energy adoption.

A high-level consultative meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee at Kharabela Bhawan brought together senior officials from GAIL (India) Limited, IOCL, IDCO, and municipal bodies.

The discussion focused on expanding piped natural gas (PNG) across the state and creating a citizen-centric policy that enhances service delivery and ease of living.

Key features of the proposed policy include streamlined permissions, rationalised license fees, single-window clearance, and deemed approval mechanisms.

The framework also emphasises institutional coordination and improved service delivery systems to ensure sustainable urban development.

Officials highlighted that the collective expertise of government representatives and industry stakeholders will help shape a forward-looking, practical, and aspirational policy aligned with Odisha’s vision for clean and sustainable energy solutions.
