Odisha Cadres Face Major Vacancies in IAS, IPS, and IFS

Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Odisha Assembly today that the state is grappling with significant vacancies across its IAS, IPS, and IFS cadres.

Responding to a question raised by BJD MLA Pratap Keshari Deb during the ongoing winter session, Majhi presented a written reply detailing the sanctioned strength and current shortfall in these All India Services.

According to the figures shared:

  • IAS (Odisha Cadre): Sanctioned strength – 248; Vacancies – 46
  • IPS (Odisha Cadre): Sanctioned strength – 195; Vacancies – 67
  • IFS (Odisha Cadre): Sanctioned strength – 141; Vacancies – 70

Majhi clarified that these posts are filled by the Government of India, with the state coordinating closely with the Centre to ensure timely appointments.

He acknowledged that the vacancies are affecting governance and service delivery, but assured that Odisha continues to press for adequate representation to meet administrative demands.
