Odisha Cabinet Approves Key Recruitment Amendments: OSSC Exams Expanded with New Posts

Bhubaneswar, Nov-24: In a decisive step toward modernising government recruitment, the Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved three major amendments to the recruitment rules governing Group-B and Group-C posts.

The move, finalised during the Cabinet’s 31st meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, is expected to accelerate hiring processes, reduce administrative delays, and create more opportunities for job aspirants across the state.

Key Amendments:

1. Graduate Level Specialist Posts (Group-B & Group-C)
– The Combined Graduate Level Recruitment Examination schedule has been revised.
– 14 new posts have been added, while 4 existing posts (serial numbers 10, 14, 15, and 17) have been removed.
– This ensures OSSC can conduct exams for a broader, updated list of specialist positions, promoting uniformity and efficiency.

2. Graduate Level State Cadre Posts (Group-B & Group-C)
– The schedule has been expanded from 20 posts to 24 posts.
– A critical change to Rule 5(b) now allows OSSC to issue a second advertisement within the same calendar year if new requisitions are received.
– This flexibility will help address emerging vacancies faster and reduce waiting times for candidates.

3. Higher Secondary (10+2) Specialist Posts
– The schedule has been updated from 11 posts to 12 posts.
– The newly added position is the Junior Forensic Attendant under the State Forensic Science Laboratory (Home Department).
– This inclusion highlights the government’s focus on strengthening forensic and investigative services.

Impact and Significance:
These amendments reflect Odisha’s commitment to merit-based recruitment and modernised hiring frameworks.

By consolidating exams and expanding the scope of posts, the government aims to provide aspirants with more opportunities in a single recruitment cycle while ensuring critical vacancies are filled promptly.

Officials believe the changes will not only streamline recruitment but also enhance transparency and efficiency in the hiring process, ultimately benefiting both departments and candidates.
