Odisha Cabinet Expansion Likely in April: Six MLAs to Join Majhi Government
Bhubaneswar: The Mohan Charan Majhi-led Odisha government is set to expand its cabinet in the third week of April 2026, filling six vacant ministerial posts.
The move comes amid growing concerns over ministers handling multiple portfolios, which has created an excessive workload and slowed governance delivery.
According to sources, the expansion will prioritise regional balance, administrative experience, and grassroots representation.
With panchayat and municipal elections approaching, the government aims to strengthen its outreach and accelerate welfare initiatives.
Names under consideration for induction include Babu Singh, actor-turned-politician Sidhant Mohapatra, Saroj Pradhan, and Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi.
Their inclusion is expected to inject fresh energy into the cabinet and enhance people-centric governance.
The reshuffle is being seen as both a strategic political move ahead of local polls and a practical step to streamline ministerial responsibilities.
