Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), July 10: The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan, approved several significant proposals on Wednesday. These include the establishment of a Rs 200 crore corpus fund for Odia Asmita Bhawan, Odia Translation Academy, and a raise in minimum wages across different categories of workers.
Chief Minister Majhi highlighted that the corpus fund aims to revitalize Odia culture, art, and heritage, with plans for initiatives such as Odia Asmita Bhawan, a museum for palm leaf manuscripts, and an Odia Translation Academy. Additionally, efforts will be made to elevate Bali Jatra to national status, implement ‘Kalakar Gouraba Nidhi Yojana,’ and support Odissi music and dance training.
He emphasized the formation of a committee of experts to draft detailed guidelines, with provisions to expand the corpus fund as needed in the future.
Majhi also directed the School and Mass Education department to expedite the recruitment of 18,700 junior teachers. Furthermore, he announced the inclusion of approximately 5-6 lakh additional eligible farmers under PM-Kisan, overcoming previous hurdles posed by the criteria of the KALIA Yojana from the previous government.
In infrastructure development, the Cabinet approved plans to revive defunct irrigation facilities and strengthen existing ones between 2024-25 and 2028-29, estimated at Rs 144.38 crore.
Moreover, the Cabinet endorsed a wage increase for various categories of workers: unskilled workers from Rs 352 to Rs 450, semi-skilled workers from Rs 392 to Rs 500, skilled workers from Rs 442 to Rs 550, and highly skilled workers from Rs 502 to Rs 600.
