Odisha Cabinet Approves AI Policy 2025, Age Limit for Govt Jobs Raised to 42

Bhubaneswar, May 28 (OT Webdesk): The 20th Odisha Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has sanctioned five significant proposals aimed at modernising governance, boosting economic growth, and improving public services.

AI Policy 2025: A Digital Leap Forward

In a milestone decision, the Cabinet approved the Odisha Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy 2025, a comprehensive strategy designed to integrate AI into governance, foster innovation, and ensure responsible AI adoption. The policy emphasises infrastructure development, skill enhancement, and ethical AI deployment. A dedicated Odisha AI Mission will oversee its implementation.

Infrastructure & Tourism Boost

The Cabinet also greenlit development projects in Mahima Gadi and Joranda, including the construction of the Bhavya Sunya Mandapa, with an investment of ₹240.01 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance local tourism and economic progress.

Healthcare Expansion: New Ophthalmic Cadre

To strengthen eye care services, the government sanctioned the Odisha Ophthalmic Service Rules, 2025, creating 338 base-level posts and 538 total positions within the Ophthalmic Service Cadre.

Civil Service Age Limit Extension

Acknowledging aspirants’ demands, the Cabinet increased the upper age limit for entry into government services from 32 to 42 years (except for uniformed services). This change expands opportunities for candidates.
