Bhubaneswar, Mar 21: The Odisha cabinet has approved an outlay of Rs. 27,192.5 crore for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana( AB PMJAY)and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana ( GJAY )or 5 years from 2025-26 to 2029-30.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the cabinet decision in the state Assembly on Friday.
The State Government,the Chief Minister said, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Health Authority to jointly implement Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana for the people of Odisha.
Under this new integrated scheme, 3.46 crore beneficiaries of about 1.03 crore families will get Rs 5 lakh per family per year and female members will get an additional Rs 5 lakh cashless treatment.
In addition, ‘Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana’ will be implemented for all persons aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their economic status.
This will enable them to get free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh per family per year,Majhi said.
He said both Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will be implemented together:
The beneficiaries will get free treatment in 29,000 registered private and government hospitals across the country. Earlier, this facility was available in only 900 hospitals.
The Odisha government, the Chief Minister said will get a central share from the Government of India for the implementation of AB PMJAY.
Similarly, under Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana, persons aged 70 years and above will get free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh per family per year in 29,000 registered private and government hospitals across the country.
The Chief Minister said it is expected that 6 lakh more new beneficiaries from Odisha will be included in this scheme. It is worth noting that free treatment for all citizens will continue to be available in all government hospitals in the state as at present. (UNI)
