Odisha Bus Strike Withdrawn After Talks With Transport Department | Passenger Services to Continue
The Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association has announced the withdrawal of its statewide strike that was scheduled to begin on December 1.
The decision came after constructive discussions with the Transport Department, which assured operators that police checking measures would not be enforced in ways that disrupt passenger services.
Officials also agreed to further examine proposals and conduct detailed reviews before implementing new regulations.
The association’s secretary stated that the suspension of the strike reflects a willingness to cooperate with the government while ensuring uninterrupted transport for commuters.
Earlier, the association had declared a strike to protest certain enforcement measures. However, following negotiations, both sides reached an understanding to avoid inconvenience to passengers.
The association emphasised that it will continue discussions with the Transport Department to resolve pending issues, while assuring the public that bus services will operate normally from December 1.
