Odisha Budget 2026–27: Rs 11 Lakh Crore GSDP Target, Rural Connectivity & Heritage Push
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented the Odisha Budget 2026–27 with a strong emphasis on fiscal discipline, rural empowerment, and cultural preservation.
The state has set an ambitious target of achieving a Rs 11.07 lakh crore economy, projecting 12% nominal growth in the coming fiscal year.
The budget outlines a massive rural infrastructure drive under Mission PoWaR (Power, Water, Road Connectivity), with Rs 44,309 crore allocated for rural development.
Key schemes include Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana, Setu Bandhan, and last-mile electrification, ensuring connectivity and civic assets across villages.
Employment generation remains a priority, with Rs 5,575 crore earmarked for Viksit Bharat – Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission, guaranteeing 125 days of work.
Transitional support under MGNREGS and initiatives like DALKHAI aim to curb distress migration.
Cultural heritage also finds prominence, with Rs 1,000 crore allocated for the Shree Jagannath Interpretation Centre and restoration of Puri’s heritage sites.
The launch of Digital Hundi – SAMARPAN will enable secure online donations.
Tribal welfare schemes, piped water supply expansion, and enhanced transfers to local bodies further underline the government’s inclusive growth agenda.
With central support for railways, highways, and industrial corridors, Odisha positions itself as a rising economic hub while balancing tradition and modernity.
