Odisha Braces for Thunderstorms, Lightning and Strong Winds Until April 3
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a multi‑day alert for Odisha, warning of unstable weather conditions across the state until April 3, 2026.
According to the forecast, residents can expect intense daytime heat followed by evening thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h.
The IMD has placed Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Keonjhar districts under an Orange Warning, indicating a high risk of heavy rainfall, lightning strikes, and possible hailstorms.
Seventeen other districts remain under a Yellow Warning, with moderate rainfall and thunderstorms expected.
While daytime temperatures are soaring, officials clarified that no immediate heatwave is likely due to ongoing storm activity.
Authorities have urged citizens to take precautions, including staying indoors during thunderstorms, avoiding open fields during lightning, and securing loose objects against strong winds.
Local administrations will continue to issue updates as conditions evolve.
