Odisha braces for extended wet spell, heavy rain warning issued

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), July 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued wet weather across many parts of Odisha for the next week, with the possibility of heavy rain returning from Friday onwards. In its midday bulletin from the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the IMD predicts light to moderate rain or thundershowers in a few places in southern Odisha and isolated spots in the north over the next 24 hours.

A yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in several districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Keonjhar during this period.

Over the coming days, the forecast is as follows:
July 11: Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati ,Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Keonjhar districts
July 12: Heavy rain anticipated in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda districts.
July 13: Heavy rain likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts.
July 14: Heavy rain expected in Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput districts.
The IMD advises residents and authorities to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions during these anticipated weather conditions.
