Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today), May 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty surface winds and lightning across various parts of Odisha by Wednesday.
According to the midday bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, south-westerly to southerly winds prevail at lower levels over the region, indicating the possibility of light to moderate rain and thundershowers in some areas of the state within the next 24 hours.
The state capital, Bhubaneswar, and its surrounding regions are expected to witness a cloudy sky with occasional spells of rain and thundershowers in the coming 24 hours.
The weather agency has issued a yellow warning, indicating caution, for thunderstorms with lightning, accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, in several parts of the state within the next 24 hours. These districts include Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Furthermore, a yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning in some areas of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Balangir, and Kandhamal districts for Wednesday and Thursday.
