Odisha BJP files complaint over obscene social media remarks against PM, CM

Bhubaneswar, Nov 14 (UNI) The Odisha unit of the BJP on Friday lodged a formal complaint with the Cyber Police Station against social worker Sandeep Singh and Odisha BJD leader Manmath Rout for allegedly making obscene, indecent, and misleading remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on social media.

BJP Vice President Jatin Mohanty, who led a delegation , filed two separate complaints at the Bhubaneswar Cyber Police Station.

He stated that Sandeep Singh, who identifies as a social worker, posted false allegations against Prime Minister Modi on his social media platform X, which Mohanty described as a punishable offence.

Similarly, BJD leader Manmath Rout, according to Mohanty, used extremely indecent language against PM Modi and CM Majhi during the Nuapada by-election.

Rout initially posted the video on his Facebook account, which was later widely shared on social media, constituting a punishable offence, Mohanty said.

“The misuse of social media by both individuals to insult the Prime Minister and Chief Minister cannot be tolerated,” Mohanty added, demanding that legal action be taken against them under the cyber law, including prosecution and arrest.
