Odisha Bets on AI to Revolutionize Farming

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has taken a major step toward modernising agriculture by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) to support farmers and enhance productivity.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo announced a 12.3% increase in the agriculture and allied sector budget, underscoring the state’s commitment to technology-driven farming.

Among the initiatives is the launch of the Krishivaas app, designed to help farmers monitor crops, predict diseases, and manage temperature fluctuations.

Additionally, satellite-based digital crop surveys will be deployed to streamline agricultural practices and provide accurate data for decision-making.

Singhdeo credited Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for prioritising farmers’ welfare and emphasised that AI will reduce risks, improve efficiency, and maximise profits.

The move aligns with Odisha’s vision of sustainable growth and ensuring that farmers benefit from cutting-edge technology.
