Odisha Assembly Welcomes 40 Foreign Delegates, Highlights NeVA Digital Transformation

Bhubaneswar, November 18, 2025 — The Odisha Legislative Assembly welcomed 40 foreign delegates from 12 countries in a landmark event organised under the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE).

Speaker Surama Padhy inaugurated the program, highlighting the Assembly’s rich history and its reputation as one of the best-functioning legislatures in India.

She noted that in the first year of the 17th Legislative Assembly, 62 days of sessions were successfully conducted.

The Assembly’s commitment to modernisation was also showcased, with all operations digitised and ongoing efforts to transition to a paperless environment through the NeVA project.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Mukesh Mahaling, serving as the guest of honour, briefed delegates on Assembly rules and procedures while stressing the importance of strengthening cultural and parliamentary exchanges across nations.

Member of Parliament Sujit Kumar further elaborated on India’s parliamentary traditions and democratic practices.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Assembly Secretary Satyabrat Rout, Director of Research Trivikram Pradhan, and PRIDE Director Prashant Mallick, underscoring Odisha’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and global collaboration in democratic governance.
