Odisha Assembly Moves to Withdraw Salary Hike Bills
The Odisha Legislative Assembly has initiated the withdrawal of four key amendment bills that sought to revise the salaries, allowances, and pensions of legislators and ministers.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling formally moved the withdrawal notice, which includes bills concerning MLAs, the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Ministers.
If the House grants leave, the bills will be officially withdrawn, shelving the proposed revisions introduced in 2025.
Copies of the withdrawal notice have been circulated to the Governor’s office, Advocate General, Law Department, Parliamentary Affairs Department, Assembly Party Secretaries, Lok Sabha Secretariat, and the Assembly Library.
This move effectively halts the planned salary and allowance hikes for Odisha’s lawmakers and ministers, marking a significant development in the state’s legislative affairs.
