Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session 2025: Speaker Surama Padhy Calls All-Party Meeting
In a bid to ensure smooth proceedings during the upcoming monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Speaker Surama Padhy convened an all-party meeting on Tuesday.
The session, scheduled from September 18 to 25, will span seven working days and is expected to witness intense political engagement.
The meeting focused on finalising the government’s legislative agenda and addressing opposition concerns. Speaker Padhy urged all parties to maintain decorum and engage in constructive debate on matters of public importance.
Political parties have begun internal strategy sessions:
- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will meet at Shankha Bhawan to decide its floor strategy.
- The Congress Legislature Party is set to gather at Congress Bhawan.
- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators will meet under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, with senior leaders including state BJP president Manmohan Samal.
Observers anticipate a politically charged session, with debates likely to centre around governance, welfare schemes, and criticism of government policies.
Heated exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches are expected as parties prepare to assert their positions.
