Odisha Approves ₹100.83 Crore Upgrade for Puri ABADHA Scheme, New Multi-Purpose Hall Planned

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has approved an additional allocation of ₹100.83 crore for the ongoing ABADHA (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) Scheme in Puri, significantly enhancing infrastructure and pilgrim facilities in the holy city.

With the latest approval, the total project cost under the scheme has increased from ₹557.19 crore to ₹658.03 crore.

The revised budget will support several key infrastructure projects aimed at improving amenities for pilgrims and boosting the city’s heritage development.

A major highlight of the expanded plan is the construction of a 2,000-seat multi-purpose hall on the fifth floor of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre (JBPC).

The facility is expected to host large-scale spiritual, cultural and community events, enhancing the overall visitor experience in Puri.

The additional funding will also be utilised for infrastructure projects including the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre, Market Complex, Shree Setu, and the Musa River extension project, all of which are intended to strengthen civic infrastructure and improve services for residents and visitors.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved the enhanced allocation and reiterated the state government’s commitment to preserving Puri’s cultural heritage while developing world-class facilities for pilgrims and tourists.

The ABADHA Scheme remains one of Odisha’s flagship initiatives aimed at transforming Puri into a modern pilgrimage destination while maintaining its rich religious and cultural identity.
