Odisha Adopts Geo-Spatial Logistics Planning Framework for Integrated Growth

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: In a landmark move to modernise infrastructure development, the Odisha Commerce & Transport Department has embraced a Geo-Spatial Logistics Planning Framework under the PM GatiShakti initiative.

At a workshop held today, officials from multiple departments received hands-on training in using a unified geo-spatial digital platform to plan and execute projects simultaneously.

The framework integrates logistics corridors, road and rail networks, port linkages, industrial clusters, utilities, and land datasets—enabling faster clearances, scientific decision-making, and reduced costs.

Principal Secretary Usha Padhee emphasised that geo-spatial intelligence is now central to Odisha’s long-term roadmap, requiring collaboration across transport, industry, ports, mining, and urban development.

Commissioner Kaustav Dipta Pany outlined the roadmap for coordinated planning via the GatiShakti Portal, while T. P. Singh, Director General of BISAG-N, assured full technical support.

This marks Odisha’s transition from conventional project-wise planning to an integrated, future-ready model aligned with economic growth, industrial development, and citizen convenience.

The state aims to strengthen institutional capacity, inter-departmental collaboration, and digital governance to make geo-spatial planning the bedrock of its logistics master plan.
