Bhubaneswar, Mar 3: The Odisha Adivasi Mahasangh and the KISS Parents Association have strongly protested against the continued defamation and harassment of KIIT, KISS, and its Founder, Dr. Achyut Samanta.
Over 1,000 representatives, including guardians of KISS students and members of the Adivasi Mahasangh, gathered at KISS on Monday to express their deep anguish over attempts to harm and discredit these institutions.
In addition to condemning the original incident that took place on February 16 at KIIT, they strongly opposed the malicious propaganda carried out by certain media houses against KIIT, KISS, and its Founder.
The protesters urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to intervene and take action against the media houses responsible for tarnishing the image of KISS, an institution that has been instrumental in providing quality education to tribal students and integrating them into the mainstream of development.
Currently, 40,000 tribal students from all 30 districts of Odisha and 15 states across India are pursuing their education at KISS, while 80,000 tribal children have already been empowered through quality education at the institute, indirectly benefiting 8 lakh families.
However, due to ongoing malicious media reports against the institution, students are living in fear and uncertainty.
The parents alleged that this attempt to tarnish KISS’s reputation has caused immense distress among 8 lakh tribal families.
They stated that baseless and fabricated news against KISS, KIIT, and its Founder is polluting the general environment and jeopardizing the future of thousands of tribal students.
While seeking the Chief Minister’s intervention, the tribal representatives demanded strict action against the media house responsible for launching the malicious campaign. They warned that if their demands were not met, 40,000 KISS students and 8 lakh tribal families across Odisha would stage demonstrations at district administration offices.
They also urged all media houses to refrain from airing misleading or fake news against KISS.
