Odisha Achieves 77.10% Household Drinking Water Coverage | Safe Water for 68 Lakh Families
Odisha has reached a significant milestone in its mission to provide safe drinking water to its citizens. According to Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik’s statement in the Assembly, 77.10% of households across the state now have access to potable water.
Out of 88.66 lakh families, drinking water has been supplied to 68.36 lakh households.
The government’s initiatives have extended beyond homes, ensuring institutions also benefit from a safe water supply.
Currently, 15,420 villages are being served through single and multi-project schemes, marking a major step forward in rural infrastructure development.
This achievement underscores Odisha’s commitment to improving public health and quality of life, while also highlighting the challenges that remain in reaching universal coverage.
The state continues to work toward ensuring every household has access to clean and safe drinking water.
