Odisha Accelerates Rural Drinking Water Projects Under Chief Secretary’s Review
Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high‑level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan to assess the progress of rural drinking water projects across Odisha.
According to official updates, 18,233 single‑village piped water supply projects have been completed, while 872 are still underway.
In addition, 6,435 solar‑powered projects are operational, with another 2,189 in progress.
Mega projects under schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission, Vasudha, RIDF, and OMBADC are also advancing.
Out of 207 approved projects, 26 have been completed, and 181 are under construction, with 134 crossing the halfway mark.
Districts like Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh have been prioritised, where several large‑scale piped water supply projects are being implemented.
Garg directed officials to resolve supply issues swiftly and expedite construction to meet targets.
The government emphasised regular monitoring and inter‑departmental coordination to ensure timely completion, aiming to strengthen rural water infrastructure and guarantee safe drinking water for all communities in Odisha.
