Odisha Accelerates Digital Land Reforms with Karnataka Model Insights
Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: In a decisive step toward modernising land administration, Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced a series of reforms designed to make land-related services more accessible and transparent through online platforms.
The initiative focuses on digitising land records, geo-referencing village maps, and enabling online land registration and service delivery.
At a high-level meeting in Lok Seva Bhawan, Minister Pujari and Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh engaged with Rajiv Chawla, consultant from the Union Ministry of Agriculture, who shared insights from Karnataka’s successful Agrostack initiative.
The model, which integrates revenue and agriculture departments, has improved efficiency and transparency in land management.
Odisha is currently running a special campaign to amend Record of Rights (RoR) entries, alongside computerisation of land records and online registration services.
Singh highlighted the state’s progress in introducing digital initiatives to strengthen land record management systems.
Minister Pujari reiterated the government’s commitment to providing seamless, doorstep services for citizens. “We are prioritising the modernisation of land records, updating cadastral maps with geo-referencing, digitising all revenue records, and ensuring systematic online service delivery,” he said.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Agriculture Department, Survey of India, NIC, ORSAC, and the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
The reforms align with national goals to digitise land administration and could serve as a model for other states seeking to integrate technology with governance.
