Odisha Accelerates 166 Railway Over Bridges | Railways to Fund 96
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to witness a major infrastructure boost with the construction of 166 Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) across the state.
In a landmark move, the East Coast Railway has agreed to fully fund 96 of these projects under the Union Railway Ministry’s new policy announced in 2024.
A high-level review meeting chaired by Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh finalised the roadmap for implementation.
Land acquisition officers have been appointed for 112 ROB projects to ensure smooth progress. The meeting emphasised strict adherence to construction quality, timely completion, and coordination among departments.
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and save travel time for commuters.
Odisha’s proactive adoption of the central policy marks a unique milestone nationally, positioning the state as a frontrunner in leveraging railway infrastructure for public benefit.
