Odia Film ‘Mahima Alekh’ Selected for Indian Panorama at 56th IFFI

Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: In a proud moment for Odisha’s film industry, the Odia-language film Mahima Alekh, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Himanshu Sekhar Khatua, has been officially selected for screening in the Indian Panorama section of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The film, rooted in the spiritual tradition of Mahima Dharma, explores the philosophy, rituals, and communal practices of one of Odisha’s lesser-known religious movements.

Through cinematic storytelling, Mahima Alekh aims to bring national attention to a cultural legacy that has remained largely underrepresented in mainstream discourse.

Produced under the Kadambini Media and Digi5 Sir banners, the film is presented by Dr Achyuta Samanta and produced by Dr. Iti Samanta.

This marks another milestone for Kadambini Media, which previously earned acclaim for The Sea and Seven Villages, a National Award-winning production.

Director Khatua, known for his earlier work Shunyaswarup—also based on Mahima Dharma—continues his mission to elevate Odisha’s spiritual heritage through film.

The selection of Mahima Alekh at IFFI not only celebrates cinematic excellence but also reinforces the growing national relevance of Odia storytelling.

The film’s inclusion in the prestigious Indian Panorama is being hailed as a major achievement for regional cinema, with congratulatory messages pouring in from across the state.
