
Odia Film Lahari to Premiere at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025
(OT Webdesk)After a successful world premiere at the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival, Odia feature film Lahari is set to make its mark internationally as an official selection at the 16th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya and produced by Jhilik Bhattacharjee under Jhilik Motion Pictures, the film celebrates Odisha’s rich storytelling tradition and scenic beauty.
Set against the backdrop of Odisha’s eco-tourism locales, Lahari explores themes of friendship, fatherhood, and personal growth.
The film’s visuals and narrative highlight the entrepreneurial spirit of the region, offering global audiences a glimpse into its cultural depth.
Bhattacharyya, who also handled cinematography, lyrics, and editing, leads a talented cast including Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Choudhury Bikash Das, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Smruti Ranjan Mahala, Susant Misra, Swastik Choudhury, and Zeinab Doer.
Music is composed by Kisaloy Roy, with vocals by Gaurav Anand and Navya Jaity, and sound design by Anindit Roy and Adeep Singh Manki.
Speaking on the selection, Bhattacharyya expressed pride in reaching Australian audiences, while Dashmohapatra remarked, “From Odisha’s rivers to Melbourne’s shores, Lahari now flows with the tides of world cinema.” Producer Jhilik Bhattacharjee called it “an absolute honour” to showcase Odia cinema on such a prestigious platform.
