Nuapada Police Rescue 10 Bonded Labourers, Arrest Trafficking Agent

Nuapada: In a decisive crackdown against illegal labour trafficking, Sinapali police rescued ten bonded labourers near Godal Chhak late Friday night.

The workers, lured by local “dadan sardars” with advance payments, were being transported to brick kilns under exploitative conditions.

During the operation, police intercepted a small vehicle carrying the labourers and apprehended the middleman, identified as Balaram Nial, red‑handed.

The raid was led by Sinapali police station officer‑in‑charge Durgamadhab Bag, who confirmed that the rescued workers were safely returned to their homes.

Authorities have produced the arrested agent in court after filing formal charges

Despite intensified day‑and‑night patrolling, trafficking networks remain active in the region, raising concerns about the persistence of illegal labour practices.

This incident underscores both the resilience of trafficking syndicates and the determination of Nuapada police to dismantle them.
